SCHOFIELD, Elliott W. of Oldsmar, and Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully at his Oldsmar home on June 5, 2010. He was born in Greenwich, CT to Doctor and Mrs. Earle F. Schofield. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and upon his discharge in 1946, purchased the Raymond Shade Co., which he owned until his retirement in 1990. Elliott was an avid long distance swimmer and, as a member of the U.S. Masters Swimming Organization and the Florida Combined Aquatic Team, had competed in championship meets throughout the United States as well as England, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Elliott was a member of the Oldsmar/ Eastlake Rotary Club, member of the Redmen's Assoc. of Greenwich, CT and the Suncoast YMCA Swim team. He was a past President of the Greenwich Rotary Club, former Treasurer of The Young Republican Club and a former member of the Greenwich YWCA. Elliott had also served on The Board of Directors of the Greenwich Boy's Club and The Board of Directors of the Greenwich YMCA. He was predeceased by his brothers, Earle, Wayne and Ward, and his nephew Walter (Buster) Schofield and nieces Lucinda Schofield and Lillian Becker. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Kirk Schofield, of Oldsmar and Greenwich and his beloved daughter Jaclyn (Jacky) of Greenwich. He is also survived by nephews Earle III, of California, MD, Wayne Schofield of Townsville, Australia, Ward Schofield of Queensland, Australia, Kirk Mertz of Greenwich; niece Jan Schofield of Simi Valley, California; brother-in-law, Jack Kirk of Palm Harbor and sister-in-law Lillian Mertz of Greenwich.
