About us...
Welcome to the world of Masters swimming.
The SUN MASTERS welcomes swimmers of all abilities. Any swimmer 18 years old (or older)who wants to improve overall fitness, develop better technique, train for a triathlon, consider competition, or is just attracted to the water for any reason, is a perfect fit for the SUN MASTERS (SUN). The major aim of the Masters program is the promotion of physical fitness through swimming.
The Masters program is national in scope, with over 43,000 swimmers working out for fun and fitness and some competing in local, zone, national, and international meets and Triathlons. Competition is by age groups, starting at 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, and so on up to age 105 and over. Masters has competitors 97 years young. SUN Masters has swimmers from 18 to 85 years young.
While swimming in meets is not required for this program, it is certainly encouraged. You will find that competition provides a motivational goal, a measuring device for improving performance, allows you to meet people with similar interests and can be a lot of fun.
We compete as a team in the various local, zone, national and international swimming meets and have a long history of top three finishes in these meets. Many of our swimmers place in the top ten in the state, zone, nation and world. Many of our swimmers are triathletes, who continually place in the top 5 in their age group and several have placed in the top 10 Nationally. Triathletes find this program has greatly improves their overall conditioning as well as the swim portion of their triathlons.
The SUN Masters is the fastest growing Masters Team in Florida, we have over 80 swimmers involved, so it may take awhile to meet everyone. In order to accommodate your busy schedule, you are welcome at any practice.
To accommodate your busy work and family schedule we provide over 15 hours of coached practice times per week. During the warmer months we do open water swims at Clearwater Beach a couple of times per month, as well.
